BEING BRAVE

Today's reflection                                                                    BEING BRAVE. As I was reading about King David in the bible, I asked God to help me understand why is my work not being blessed? In David's case, he achieved the task and the bible tells us that God was with him. Then this is what the Holy Spirit reminded me.                                                                                NOT BRAVE ENOUGH.                                               Don't ...

WORRY

Today's reflection,                                                                          WORRY " Matthew 13:22:   "The seed sown among the thorns is the one who hears the word, but the worries of this life and the deceitfulness of wealth choke the word, and it becomes unfruitful". -Bible. In this blog, I focus on the topic worrying. Worry can be our greatest hinder from growing spiritually. Moreover, spiritual understanding and growth are important to live a peaceful life on this earth. Therefore I wish to journal my thoughts on the topic of worry. " Life is not bed of roses " this metaphor simply means, life is not always comfortable. However, here I want to focus on how we could make our life feel like a bed of roses: meaning comfortable. The reason behind this thinking is a simple fact ...

Think Good

Image
Today's reflection,                                                                    Think Good Thinking good keeps our mind at peace. I completely agree to it, but the process is complex. It takes conscious effort to remind us of all the good thinks happening in our lives, because life is an amalgam of both good and bad. As the weight of the negative experiences weighs us down, we have to remind the good admits the chaos. This, I think, requires practice and conscious effort, giving us a positive end result.  Personally, i think negative thinking creates, negative emotions and makes our lives even more miserable. On the contrary, good thinking keeps our mind at peace and makes us more effective. Here comes the question, as to what is good thinking? I think most of us get stuck with this question and we tr...

Prayer

Reflection for today.                                                                         PRAYER I believe in the healing power of prayer. Life brings many challenges, and some problems are hard to solve on our own. At this very junction, we need prayer. Prayer is a beautiful tool God provided us  to  get through difficult situations. I can testify many examples of the power of prayer from my personal life. However, in this blog, I would like to share just one. When my son was three years of age; he feel sick. He was suffering from extrem illness due to the change of environment. We checked with the doctor, and we gave him medicines too. Yet, he failed to recover because he was not immune to the environment. In desperation, we laid our hands on the child and prayed for him. As my son was extremel...

Faith

Today’s reflection,  "If you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you shall say unto this mountain,  ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you .”  Matthew 17:20 When I was in my residential school, I remember praying for a person that I was concerned about. Years later, everything has turned good for this person, and I praise God for his life. Today, I find myself in a similar situation, and I need to exercise the same Faith that God is in Control. I need to remind myself that God is bigger than the Boogeyman. Boogeyman, here is my fear:), which is only making things worst.  At this point, the wisest thing is to hold on to "Faith as small as mustard seed"  and do things that are in my control. I need to live my life trusting God and waiting in His presence. I am at peace when I hold on to His promises. As Job did, job was contemplating unfair treatment in his life. His misery stopped the minute he confessed the all-k...

Anxiety

Today's reflection,                                                                      Pray and Praise  Philippians chapter 4:6-7 The bibel teaches us " 6  Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.  7   And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."  The bible teaches us not to be anxious, but some of us experience this emotion everyday.  We are anxious about our uncertain future or an uncertain situations. This could be because of fear and worry about tomorrow. Interestingly, fear and worry are the synonyms of anxiety. I n this blog, I share how do i overcome these emotions in my personal life?  I overc...

Thought for the day.         Life is beautiful, enjoy and be faithful in all that you have and do. Thank God for all that you have and work towards all that you desire; in faith. Rest when your are tired and regain your spiritual strength in the presence of God. He will strengthen you to get back up again. Discipline and proper life balance are the key for healthy and happy living. Think good, feel good and do good. Choose doing good.  Bible verse :- Godliness with contentment is great gain (1tim:6:6)

Our Personal Relationship with God Matters.

My reflection for today,                                                   Our Personal Relationship with God Matters.  I am a Christian and found my faith in Jesus at the age of sixteen. Sixteen years of my life before knowing Jesus, was just living. To elaborate on the phrase j ust living; I tried really hard to live by the rules of my social environment. I was never great at everything the world around me defined as best, but i tried. As a child it is easy to hide behind the phrase " Oh, she's just a child; she will learn". The older you get, those phrases disappear and so does the excuses. People expect more from an adolescens turning into a young adult. They want you to get serious, productive and effective.  Now, in my forties, I do understand that teenage years are filled with conflict and growth. An age where we seek our identity, where we emotio...

About me

Hi Readers,  I am Shilpa Catherine and i am in my Forties. I am from India, but live in Europe. I always considered writing as my favorite pastime as a teenager. Writing was and is therapeutic and gives me an opportunity to explore my everyday life and reflect on my past and present. Reflections reveals my mistakes and teaches me new important values that are necessary for future living. Though i have not always been consistent with my writing, but reflection is an ingrained aspect of my everyday life. Now, i am boldly, but freely choosing to write again, because i think it is fun.  To tell you a little about me; I am a spiritual, curious, creative, funny and adventures person. I love to learn, because my mind is full of questions and exploring answers for them would be my lifetime hobby. I say this because i never ran of questions so far. Thank God that I live in an era that gives me access to overflow of information, but using it with a critical lens.  This blog i...
